Armco moves to new premises...
Ryedale IT firm expands into new premises A growing Ryedale IT company is bucking the recession by expanding into new premises and looking to take on staff. Armco IT has moved into a new, bigger office at The Maltings in Castlegate, Malton to give the business room to grow, take on more customers and employ more people. Partner Tony Armstrong said the company had been operating out of small offices elsewhere in Malton but the time had come to move on. “Despite the recession we are finding that demand for a high quality, business to business IT service in this area is growing,” he said. “We had very much outgrown our old office and needed more room to operate, meet customers and, hopefully, accommodate more staff as the business grows.” Armco IT provides IT support and services to small to medium-sized businesses and organisations throughout Ryedale and North Yorkshire. It specialises in offering no nonsense, down-to-earth environmentally-friendly solutions for PC and Apple computer systems, hardware and software. It offers managed services, annual contract and retainer services as well as ad hoc support and remote access service. This includes IT systems, computers and software, linking up all equipment through a network, getting all business data in one place via a server and protecting businesses and organisations from viruses and spam, consultancy work and website development. Typical customers include manufacturing and service business, accountants, schools, entertainment, retail and tourism. Armco looks after day-to-day needs as well as providing more specialised solutions. It has long established relationships with key suppliers including Apple, Fujitsu-Siemens, Microsoft and Cisco. The business began in 2001 when Tony, an experienced professional with another IT company, decided he wanted to bring a new approach to providing businesses with IT support by setting up his own company. “I wanted to provide a personal approach which very much puts the customer first,” he said. “An open, honest approach, avoiding the jargon and giving people straightforward advice, products and services. “We are also passionate about helping companies to reduce their carbon footprint and minimise their impact on the environment. Clever use of technology such as thin client, electronic document management and low power network systems, can all help us achieve that aim.” Tony began by operating from home in Malton but then moved to a small office in Newgate. As the business began to grow it took on a member of staff, Nick Salisbury, to join Tony and wife Sally. Since then Armco has been steadily growing, offering more and more products to a wider range of businesses and organisations across the region. “The move to the Maltings will give us greater ability to expand further, offer a greater range of services to small, medium and larger sized operations and hopefully take on extra staff,” added Tony. “One of the biggest areas that we are expanding in is hosting data and managing data security for companies. To carry out these hosting services we need bigger, more secure premises where we have been able to install the latest advanced network infrastructure.”
